Kristin Kreuk is a Canadian actress, model, and producer best known for playing Lana Lang on the long-running superhero series Smallville (2001–2009). Born Kristin Laura Kreuk on December 30, 1982, in Vancouver, British Columbia, to landscape architects of Dutch and Chinese heritage, she planned to study psychology or forensic science before an open audition changed her path. With only high school stage experience, she first appeared as Laurel Yeung on the CBC teen drama Edgemont (2000), then became a breakout star as Clark Kent’s first love on Smallville, appearing across seven seasons and earning Saturn Award and Teen Choice Award nominations. She later headlined The CW’s Beauty & the Beast (2012–2016) as detective Catherine Chandler, winning back-to-back People’s Choice Awards for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actress. Film credits include EuroTrip, the period drama Partition, and the title role of Chun-Li in Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. Additional television work includes Chuck, the miniseries Ben Hur, Reacher, and the Canadian legal drama Burden of Truth (2018–2021), which she also executive produced.
Kreuk has built a second career behind the camera through her company Parvati Creative, producing projects told through a female lens, including short films and the web series Queenie. She also starred in and produced Space Milkshake and later appeared in Murder in a Small Town. In 2019 she received the Canadian Award of Distinction at the Rockie Awards. She has long kept her personal life relatively private. Admirers know her for a beautiful smile, long dark hair, green eyes, and a petite 5’3″ frame that gives her a quiet, striking presence on red carpets and in fitted on-screen looks. That mix of classic beauty, poise, and steady genre work made her one of the defining faces of 2000s television and a lasting favorite among fans.
